Body of fifth victim may be linked to alleged ‘shopping cart’ serial killer

A man police have dubbed the “shopping cart killer” may be linked to the body of a fifth victim found in Washington, DC, authorities said on Friday.Anthony Robinson, 35, has already been charged with the killing of two women.Investigators believe Robinson met his victims on dating websites and allegedly lured them into motels where he killed them and transported their bodies in shopping carts.

Police received a “critical tip” this week that might connect Robinson to another case in which a woman’s body was found in a shopping cart in Washington, DC, Fairfax County Police Bureau Chief of Major Crimes Cyber and Forensics Ed O’Carroll said in a news conference on Friday.

South Korea’s most-notorious serial killers confesses, says he’s surprised he wasn’t caught sooner

A serial killer in South Korea admitted in court Monday that he murdered 14 women and girls three decades ago, saying he was surprised he wasn’t caught earlier.

Lee Chun-jae confessed to the killings in front of Yoon, the only person ever convicted of any of the murders.

“I didn’t think the crimes would be buried forever,” 57-year-old Lee told a South Korean court.

He confessed to the murders last year to the police, but this is the first time he has publicly discussed the killings.

“I still don’t understand (why I wasn’t a suspect),” Lee said in court. “Crimes happened around me and I didn’t try hard to hide things so I thought I would get caught easily. There were hundreds of police forces. I bumped into detectives all the time but they always asked me about people around me.

“I heard that many people had been investigated and wrongfully suffered. I’d like to apologize to all those people.”

Yoon, whose full name is not being published due to a South Korean law that protects the privacy of suspects and criminals, was released in 2008 after spending 20 years in prison for the 1988 rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl.

After unusual trial, Mexican Mafia member sentenced to life in prison

For cutting short the life of a fellow Mexican Mafia member in a hail of bullets, a judge ruled Monday that Jose Luis Loza should spend the rest of his own in a federal prison.

Loza, from Whittier, was convicted of murder, racketeering and other crimes after an unusual trial in August, in which Loza himself testified for two days. It was an unprecedented departure, law enforcement officials say, from the Mexican Mafia’s historical refusal to acknowledge in the courtroom such an organization exists, let alone discuss its politics on the witness stand.
